Building right, building faster. Choose two.
You can't take chances when physically changing a building, and that means approvals. With as many as five departments involved in signing off on a facility modification, a lot of paper gets shuffled around a lot of offices.
This isn't a "process for the sake of process" problem. Real people are impacted by changes to buildings, and the experts have to make sure the bolts are tightened.
Are there permit requirements?
What are the implications under the Americans with Disabilities Act?
We need change management for facilities!
At the start of this project, all we had to go on was the paper forms, a list of departments, and a standard approval turnaround time quoted in months. A single disapproval might start the entire process over.
Can ServiceNow keep our facilities modifications safe, transparent, and faster?
Architecting something better...
Working directly with the Office of the Architect, I created Facilities Modification (FacMod), as a scoped application with a custom Service Portal to serve all enterprise approvals for modifications to buildings.
FacMod effortlessly integrates building information and change management concepts with complex approval workflows that move between a diverse range of departments and roles.
With ServiceNow Performance Analytics, the Office of the Architect measured a post-deployment decrease in approval turnarounds from up to a month, to inside a week.
